Sylvanian Christmas sleigh hand made

Sylvanian Father Christmas / Santa sleigh

Here is a 2 part sled / sleigh / sledge what ever they are called!
I have made it using balsa and a cherry stick and silver and red acrylic paint!
Very easy to make also very quick!
I have been gifted with a very special chap to help Santa pull the sleigh around Sylvania......................his name is "Stardust" All will be revealed next weekend!

Wow! This is great!
I really admire your creativity!
( and this is why I like this forum).
I've recently 'descovered' balsa ,too!
What kind of glue is better for this material?

Thanks,
Pleased you like it!
PVA glue is best for balsa. Before painting balsa PVA mixed with water 50-50 is good for sizing first.
I made my Mezzanine floors with balsa too.

Great sleigh! I can't wait for the chap pulling it.

Is balsa strong enough for Mezzanine floors? emoticon I just got a piece of balsa, and it's so light weight and soft wood. I have read recommendations not to make dollhouse furniture only of balsa, because they won't dure. Would it really hold all weight on the floor and not bend?

Thank you!
All my dolls house furniture is made from balsa!! I have made all the "machinery" and gear wheels here in the pic below with balsa! And a water wheel! I am not saying it was easy though!LOL!I have worked with balsa for 30 years!

I have used Quarter inch thick balsa on my mezzanine floors and stuck quarter inch thick beams underneath to make it stronger.

I will advise and help wherever I can emoticon

Have a go at making something in your own time..bedding is very easy..............I have made some quick style sleeping bags from very fine crushed velvet until I get sorted with beds!
Sometimes everyday items can be converted into a quick make..............Synthetic wine corks sliced look like cake........slice it thinly it looks like slices of bread!!!!
Perhaps a do it yourself topic would help ?

That is very impressive set of machinery emoticon I'm stunned! Quarter inch... 6 mm I see. I picked a piece of 3 mm thick, because I didn't know what to choose. I'll keep thickness and beams underneath in mind, thank you Patty! emoticon
