Re: Sylvanian Christmas sleigh hand made
I am amazed!!! The sleigh is lovely! I picked up some balsa wood for my canal boat project, but I am finding it very difficult to work with. It easily splits when I cut it, and it makes the fiddly parts difficult. One of the reasons why I am so sluggish with the work on my dollhouse remodel

Thank you!,
ALWAYS use very sharp craft knives and score more them once firmly with even pressure.
I use disposable craft knives and regularly replace them. Be careful you don't cut yourself.

Re: Sylvanian Christmas sleigh hand made
This is lovely! I really like the silver accents on the edges
I've never worked with balsa before. Does it glue together easily or does it take lot of support to get pieces to stay together while the glue dries?

Re: Sylvanian Christmas sleigh hand made
Thank you,
Balsa needs some attention when sticking. The rough end edges soak up lots of glue so it is best to put a thin coat of glue on it and wait till it is dry then glue up with a good Quality PVA glue. Masking tape is good for holding balsa until the glue dries!
The silver accents are done with metallic acrylic paint.
