Willow Hall Conservatory Review

Well I bought the Willow Hall Conservatory from Sylvanian City since their US store is closing. I don't have the Townhome itself yet, but I was planning on getting it in a month or two and I wanted to have the conservatory.

I though the Conservatory seemed overpriced, but I was pleasantly surprised. It seems bigger than it seemed in the pictures. I've got it in the configuration with the second flooring piece on top of the building and I love it!

I think I'll probably use it as a "Mother-in-Law house" as I've heard them called, detached from the main Willow Hall. I might have one of the smaller families like the Voles live there. It's very cute and I do feel like it was a good value for the money, especially considering that it's not available in the US.

Re: Willow Hall Conservatory Review

I passed this up when I saw it in my last trip. I was trying to keep things small for my suitcase so I can cram as many items as possible without going over the weight limit. But now that you've given me an idea of what to do with it (yes, the grandparents would love having a wing all to themselves, thanks!) I think I'll make space for this.

Thanks for the great review!

P.S. Does the color of the conservatory go with the old Willow Hall or the new 2010 release?

Based on what the SSK website says, I think it goes with the older version of Willow Hall. I'm not sure if that means it will match up with my US Townhome when I get it, but I hope so!

I beleive that the UK Willow Hall and the US Luxury Townhome are the same. The Willow Hall Conservatory should match the Luxury Townhome.

The UK Beechwood Hall has the new floor peice that can be flipped to be used as either grass or wooden flooring and an extra balcony/landing/hallway to connect the second story rooms if the stairs are moved away from the center of the building. Willow Hall did not have these updates, and to my knowledge, the Luxury Townhome does not include them either.

Actually, for the short timespan it has been on the market, the Willow Hall has gone though many releases.

The Original JP version was released in 2004 with just the staircase and wooden flooring.
The Europeans, Flair and It. Plaything followed suit releasing the same hall again over the next three years.

In 2008, Epoch released the Willow Hall as the Beechwood Hall again with exterior walls with a creamier colour. This version also featured the staircase balcony. The only difference between the UK Beechwood Hall and the JP Beechwood Hall is that the garden floor piece of the JP version is made of real green plush and that a Special Walnut Squirrel Sister came with it.

The Conservatory has remains constant thoughtout all released the only difference being the later JP version has the same creamier walls as the Beechwood Hall

Re: Willow Hall Conservatory Review

One of the reasons I deferred my purchase of the conservatory was that its packaging was so similar to Beechwood Hall's and not to Willow Hall's. (The saleslady didn't want me poking around and taking the tape off boxes.) I thought that the conservatory I saw was meant to go, colorwise, with the new release. I hope JabberwockyPie could share a picture of the conservatory and the box it came in, if it's not too much to ask. :-)

Thank you!

I was surprised to find this message on SSK, as I thought the opposite was the case:

THIS CONSERVATORY CAN BE USED WITH EITHER B41 WILLOW HALL, OR B7 BEECHWOOD HALL, HOWEVER THE COLOUR SHADE IS ONLY AN EXACT MATCH TO THE B7 BEECHWOOD HALL VERSION AND WILL APPEAR SLIGHTLY PALER IN COLOUR COMPARED TO THE B41 WILLOW HALL VERSION.

http://www.sylvanianfamilies.com/product_info.php?cPath=11&products_id=316

emoticon This makes me a bit sad as now I will have to wait and see if a 'beechwood hall' update is released in the US. I am picky about matching colors...
