posticon 2007 SF Dressmaker set

Owing to my dressmaking hobby for purely Sylvanian Families characters, I cannot resist but give in to SF items when it's related to dressmaking or clothes or footwear. So here I eventually bought this pre-owned dressmaker set I found at our local Ebay. It's a bit expensive a Phpt 3,[sign in to see URL] for a pre-loved item with several missing parts but hey it's a dressmaker set and that's very me!

This is the photo of the Dressmaker set I found on the web

My favorite items in the set are the mannequin, sewing machine, the cloth rack with the folded cloths, the very bouffant wedding gown, the metal iron with ironing board. The way I arranged the items inside are quite different from how it appeared on the box and catalogue because I felt it was set up too cramped for SF comfort.

I have so many ideas I wan't to change with this set like the curtains, and I wan't to cozy up the place a bit. The place looks very cramped inside and I want to remove some items when I use it as background for modelling some clothes I make. The table and chairs set looks too bright for the place so I may use some brown furniture.

I can't gripe about anything from this set as all details are what a dressmaker may need inside a dress shop. Even the tape measure was included although not usable anymore. There's even a pin cushion on top of the sewing machine.

I love this set. My Clearwaters will enjoy it here. Madame C is proud with her new dressmaker shop! Oohlala! A place where she can focus her creativity on designing and sewing clothes.

You certainly take better pictures than the seller of the dress shop, Madame C. Her pictures made the set look grimy and old but yours brought out the charm of the piece.

I think the set will need a bit updating- maybe wallpaper, nicer curtains, and yes, a redesign of the layout. The cramped work space where the dressmaker will make and cut patterns looks uncomfortable. How about a nice sofa instead of the table and chairs?

I look forward to seeing the dress shop figure more often in your stories, just as I look forward to seeing your lovely dresses.

♥Pinky

That shop is lovely. Your pictures make it even better, all those tiny accessories! I lost out on one of these yesterday on ebay. The one I was bidding on had only the shelves and none of the accessories, but I was hoping to be able to fix it up. You got yourself a great find. emoticon

Thank you all!

@bogi:
Yes! It's a dressmakers dream. But I'm not a dressmaker by profession. This is more of a hobby and I'm loving it!

@Pinky
The sofa sounds comfy and cozy. I like that idea!

Thanks for saying I have nice photos. I recently have a new toy - ipad2. And with a bigger screen I saw how my other photos sucks since I used to take photos and surf with only my iphone which has a small screen. Now that i have a bigger screen to see well, i have no excuse for blurry pics. Hurray for me!

@eric
I wanted to do the individual laying of item details that you usually do with your reviews but I just don't have your patience. Great job with that style. Oh and yes I love the old sewing machine too.

@duckpuddle
I'm sure you will make better accessories for your set as your talent is one of a kind.

Here's a closer picture of the sewing machine.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

It says Singor (sounds familiar?) and Sylvanian families on the base part. The foot pedal flexes just like the real macoy and the lower wheel turns also turning the belt. The machine has lost its needle (not Madame C's fault), and the drawers open and are usable for storing spools.

I like the gold touch on the design engravings. It gives a certain flair to the piece. Also the texture to the rubber belt makes it more realistic. The handles on the drawers are long enough to help you open them. Overall, good details from SF.

Really cool set. I like the Dress Shop but I don't own one. This really fits you, Madame C! emoticon

Thanks hayleygirls and deafcandy! It has so many layout possibilities especially for dress modelling and showcase of clothes. I got a Japanese miniature vintage Nikon camera almost SF size which I will try to use with modelling photos. I'm excited but also too busy to work on my hobby at the same time. Which is why I have long nights now just to post my beloved pics. Ooh, what we do for [sign in to see URL] this critters.
