Oldie but goodie :)
Hi Everyone!
My name is Cristina and I got my 1st Sylvanian Family when I was in 5th grade in 1986 over 20 years ago! We were living in Japan, so I have the original JP gray rabbit family. My sister got a bunch of the Urban Life items, Ivory Dog family the next year.
I collected for a few years with my small allowance and then gave it up by highschool and coming back to the US. With the birth of my daughter in 2004 and my general apathy towards the American toy market, I started thinking about my SF's in my mom's attic.
Eventually they came down and my Internet searches began! Wow! There is so much nowadays and I caved in and bought some Calico Critters.
Since my daughter is almost 4 and doesn't want to eat them now (she had chewed on the JP Koala Exchange Student! I put lots away MIB for safekeeping) I may start buying some more for play and for collecting.
I made a website really fast on Freewebs.

I would really love to go to the Sylvanian Family Village in Japan at the Grinpa amusement park!
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Cristina

Re: Oldie but goodie :)
Welcome to the forums. Enjoy your stay. ^_^
Also, if you're interested in Japanese Sylvanian stuff, you might want to check out my website (link's in the banner). It's not really Sylvanian, but I've been doing fan translations of the Japan-only Sylvanian Families games. There are seven in all and I've done two (though I need to go back and fix up the first one a little; I didn't know "Fairyland" was called "Misty Forest" outside of Japan ^_^;).

Re: Oldie but goodie :)
Hi there
I always love meeting original collectors who had them as a child and found them again. I'm one of those people. Our local shop stopped selling them when I was 12 or 13 so I stopped collecting. I started collecting again when I was 17/18 when Flair had really got the line moving again in the UK

Re: Oldie but goodie :)
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
I will probably make a link page too, so I have an easy way to keep up to date with what everyone is doing.
I may break out my sewing machine again and make some curtains and outfits.
I also plan on taking some pics of some of my favorite or rare accessories I have stored away...like these JP SF copper utensils I bought when I got my original kitchen back in 86'.
