I just splurged.

(firstly, I hope this is the appropriate place to post this... I've mostly been a lurker these past years so when it comes to posting I get easily confused.)

Anyway...
Earlier this month was my nephews third birthday. For the last several months he'd been obsessed with my (currently empty) townhome. He loves opening the doors and we really wanted him to have his own house. So my parents bought him the cozy cottage and a set of bunnies. emoticon He absolutely LOVES it, and even brought it with him to our house to show each individual one off to us.

Seeing him with them reminded me of my rather large collection. I have nowhere to display it and unfortunately everything is somewhere in the garage except for my actual critters. I started looking on ebay for my dream families.

That being the Chestnut Raccoon family.
When we got home from his birthday party I checked them out on ebay and saw a rather expensive lot (at least for me) and decided it was better not to buy...

I found them again this morning, along with the persian cat family. Let's just say I spent about $100 for both with shipping. I regret nothing. (well actually I do but I'm also excited)

I feel terrible for spending so much on families that may not be properly displayed for several years. But I really wanted to brag about getting my dream families! emoticon
Real life has been a bit of a downer lately, so I thought I deserved to treat myself. When I showed the pictures to my mom she fell in love so I knew I had her support. lol.

Hey Hannah
don't feel down about treating yourself. We all need some cheering up at times, and I find a nice Sylvanian treat always cheers me up. I am struggling to find display space as well now, and still have the Grand Hotel, the treehouse and Oakwood Manor to display, but I know that one day they will have a beautiful display, so that justifies me keeping them. It took me over 10 years to finally get around to displaying my figures properly (after selling them off, then regretting it and recollecting again), but I am so pleased I did it. Have been lazy and not done much with my displays or figures recently but will get around to it. The Chestnuts are an ace family, shame they are no longer made.
But good luck on your collecting and never feel guilty about treating yourself emoticon

Thanks for the kind comment!
I made one more purchase today - the polar bear from this image here http://www.sylvanian-families.net/Families/052709/UK2008carrycarsebabies.html
It was love at first sight!

I currently have in storage the luxury townhouse, the deluxe village house and another "townhouse" my father built me. I want so badly to show it off - it's adorable!
I also have the store and daycare playsets... unfortunately the pieces to all these things are lost among dozes of storage boxes in the wasp infested garage. emoticon
I just have to remember that someday I will have a wonderful set up. I'm so jealous of the beautiful villages I see on here. With the grass and sky painted backgrounds. Even the little streams! So cute!

That polar bear is cute, I got him last year when I was in Spain. I found him in a shop and thought that he had to join my collection.
That is what kept me going with collecting, just knowing that one day the collection will be on display. When you finally display your first item, it is brilliant. emoticon

Oh no, I made one more purchase.
I found a good deal on the persian cat baby Marcus (I believe that's his name..?)

All the pictures I've seen of him he comes with a blue crib... but this one is brown. -shrugs-
Ah well, he looks authentic. emoticon I know colors do vary from time to time as well.

After I get paid on the 3rd of next month I intend on buying the tuxedo cat triplets, along with the triple bunk-bed.

Oh how I wish I had display space.
