My therapist actually gave Miss Important her name when she gave her to me. Miss Important is supposed to serve as a reminder that I have importance, as a person, and that it is okay for me to assert myself and let people know when there is something I need. It's actually something I've struggled with ever since I was a young child. Since I've gotten Miss Important, I've taken her with me everywhere...she's become a security blanket of sorts, for me. nondisclosed_email@example.com (LittleFisherCat)Wed, 19 Jun 2013 15:22:49 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p43804,from=rss#post43804https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p43804,from=rss#post43804Miss Important - what a name! Miss Important (my favorite CC and the one I spend the most time with) does have some missing flocking around her ears and some "swingy" limbs, and I got her from my therapist about a year ago. However, before my therapist gave Miss I to me, she would always let her younger child clientele play with her CCs in a dollhouse (it's really cute, btw, I took a photo of it once after she and I arranged all her little animals in it that I should put up on the board sometime ) so it's possible that Miss I. was a bit worn out by the time I got her...oh well, I love her anyway! nondisclosed_email@example.com (LittleFisherCat)Mon, 17 Jun 2013 08:52:49 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p42831,from=rss#post42831https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p42831,from=rss#post42831even i love much more vintage houses =_= when i bought a new one I was a bit disappointed.. i also prefer the old style metal glasses, not the new ones made in plastic .nondisclosed_email@example.com (chickiecherry13)Fri, 10 May 2013 07:44:06 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p42382,from=rss#post42382https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p42382,from=rss#post42382I'm kinda half and half. I love the old ceramic bathroom set and the old flushing toilet. But I really like the variety of the newer items like the vac cleaner, washing machines and couches. A lot of the smaller items today have more detail but the rooms seem so tiny that I can't fit everything in. A lot of the boy clothes are more detailed too. Here in Australia we don't get many of the items offered overseas so I was always looking and finding new items that became must haves. So I have way too much stuff now and nowhere to put it all. Lol. I do love the quality of the older sylvanian families though. nondisclosed_email@example.com (lellytots)Wed, 24 Apr 2013 20:29:47 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41494,from=rss#post41494https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41494,from=rss#post41494The Celebration families seem especially of a poor quality. Has anyone else noticed The Beagle and Macavity Families all have a strange pink under colour which protrudes quite glaringly. The originals had a much more natural colour.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Dave1983)Mon, 01 Apr 2013 12:20:46 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41481,from=rss#post41481https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41481,from=rss#post41481the uk figure quality is pretty bad now. luckily i dont play with mine but my daughter does and she takes very good care of them. her beagles clouring has really faded. her panda's have very stiff limbs. the clothes on the celebration timbertops are awful! birch's shorts are too small and ivy's dress has come undone where its sewn. also buds trousers have freyed to almost nothing! bearing in mind she hasnt had them that long! i had mine 80s/ early 90s ones for years and played with them much more and they are still in really good condition.nondisclosed_email@example.com (kirsty corntop)Mon, 01 Apr 2013 08:06:16 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41454,from=rss#post41454https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41454,from=rss#post41454The quality of the buildings and houses has definitely gone down but it's gotta be because of cost. They are using that cheap plastic that breaks very easily. On houses and buildings that open and close (like the hotels and Beechwood Hall) the plastic hinges also break easily. I love the vintage houses. They're so heavy and sturdy and they're nice and open so you can fit plenty of furniture and family members in them. The newer houses have such small rooms you can't even fit a whole furniture set in one room. The only thing I think is cool about the new buildings is that they are making some of them to fit together and expand vertically and horizontally. nondisclosed_email@example.com (crandj)Sun, 31 Mar 2013 15:12:57 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41399,from=rss#post41399https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41399,from=rss#post41399I agree! The fabric was more sturdy and the snaps were so much better than the velcro. The velcro never stays together. That said, I think the variety and individuality of their outfits is better. They aren't all just halter skirts with ribbon for the girls, and plaid or checkered shorts with elastic suspenders for the boys and overalls for the dads, etc. I still love those old school outfit styles but I don't really like when family members from different families wear the exact same thing such as The Evergreens and Honey Bears. And how many boys wear the identical black and red checkered shorts or the plaid red and green shorts.nondisclosed_email@example.com (crandj)Sat, 30 Mar 2013 07:28:33 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41395,from=rss#post41395https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41395,from=rss#post41395Without a doubt, quality has gone down quite substantially. However, all the Japanese sets I have purchased are always of a superior quality to the UK ones. Often mine have glue on them from the packaging and the flocking does come off more easily It's such a shame that Sylvanians could potentially become as 'plasticky' and tacky as toys like Barbie and Bratz which aren't exactly renowned for quality. nondisclosed_email@example.com (secretsylvanianlover)Sat, 30 Mar 2013 06:52:26 +0000 Re: Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41388,from=rss#post41388https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41388,from=rss#post41388I think for the ones for sale in the UK, the quality has gone downhill since they were first launched. The Japan figures though (I have a few imports now) still seem of a higher quality. The prices have gone up so much as well, especially over the last 10 years. I know it's inflation but I remember grumbling because a family of four cost £9.99 where as now it is like £15.99. Although I do believe the accessories available now are much better and more detailed. A bit better quality as well. So the figures are not as good, but the furniture etc is much better.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Dave1983)Sat, 30 Mar 2013 05:21:03 +0000 Do you think Sylvanian quality is lower than when it started?https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41385,from=rss#post41385https://bsfforum.runboard.com/p41385,from=rss#post41385I think it has, the flocking comes off so easily.
