The Display :) (Updated: 12th July 2013)

It's finally coming together emoticon Excuse the mess xD Theres more display area at the bottom of the image, but its junked up right now and grass-less. emoticon

Sitting doing the sky right now ^^ Doing the back bits first to make sure I have enough fabric. Have to have enough because we bought it almost 3yrs ago, so I doubt they'll have it in stock still. Grass will be finished next emoticon

Some corners prob won't match up, won't matter too much as trees will be around the buildings emoticon

What do you think so far? emoticon (Old pic now, generally the same, but it was back in June 2013. More pics throughout the thread)

Image

EDIT: More pics posted throughout the thread as I update it and create a village! emoticon

Ooh, this is going to make a lovely display. emoticon I wish I had room for shelves like those, I've always wanted a display for my collection. I'm loving the sky fabric background and I can't wait to see pictures of when everything is unwrapped and set up!

Re: The Display :)

Thankyou emoticon Yeah everything is either in original boxes still (most recent buys) or in sealed baggies (sandwich bags small, normal and large emoticon). So many boxes (those office cardboard make-yourself kind with lids) and in fabric boxes stored under the front little-tables-together display xD Oh and fishing tackle box plastic containers!

The main reason we have the room is cause we had a double garage on the ground floor of the house (as the main living was upstairs). We didn't really use it to its full potential so Mum decided to build it all in, and make it into 2 rooms instead! emoticon Took out the garage doors and put in 2 big sliding glass doors on each room. We ended up with 2 big rooms and a smaller hallway to tie it into the middle-of-the-house stairwell (that used to lead inside from upstairs to the garage downstairs).

We had movable pointing display lights (don't know what they're called officially) with LED bulbs in them (so they didn't melt the figures). Originally where they are now, the glass cabinets where there with my Anime figures in them and those units with sylvanians were upstairs. We moved them down into the new room (pc side) because it had better lights, more room to spread out too. Moved the Anime figures and their glass cabinets into the loungeroom down here near the tv, looks nice ^^

It ends up being 4m along the wall? :o

Fabulous! And a wee bit jealous. Loving the sky fabric, and can't wait to see it when it's finished! Where did you get the trees from?

It already looks pretty awesome!!! I love the sky background! I thought about putting some of my buildings on a bookshelf but they are all too small. I would have to buy a much bigger one!

Re: The Display :)

@kirsty - emoticon We have the same name! (slight dif spelling but still awesome ^^)
And Thankyou very much ^^

@Lisa - Which trees? emoticon The pine ones are just small inexpensive Christmas trees that we got from Kmart etc, at Christmas time (those $5 kind), and bent the branches forwards so they can go flat against the shelving walls, and get the most bushyness to the front emoticon More room for houses that way too.
The palmish type one in a pot plant, they're little plants meant to be for indoor decoration I think, from the dollar-store type place a few years ago.
And the one you can *kinda* see, at the bottom, in the back in front of the cottage house, kinda blocked by the Grand Hotel front steps thing - that is a bunch of fake sticks with leaves on them xD Best way to describe them xD They came in bunches with a rubberband around them. They can be seperated or have the leaves pulled off (like artificial flowers). I kept 1 bunch together, added lots of blu-tack to the bottom to form a trunk shape of a tree, then put it onto some small square tiles we got from the hardware store emoticon Just have to add the barky brown paper we have and hope that looks tree-ish!

@PetiteCherie - emoticon Thankyou! Yeah these are cabinets technically. We got them from Chickenfeed - basically the dollar store type place, but they shut down near us emoticon They used to sell furniture all the time, randomly. We needed something deep cause the houses and especially the tree house is quite large. These ones are 80cm wide, 38cm deep and 180cm high. Quite large :o The middle section where the Hotel is (and below it), is 3 (1 is at the bottom, holding it all higher) 90cm "high" (I flipped them on the side, so its 90cm wide now xD) and 30cm "wide" (now height) units. They do come with shelves but they were quite sturdy without them thankfully! They've sat like that over a very long time (2yrs+ prob by now) and haven't bowed at all emoticon

@sigrun - Thankyou too ^^ Just finished all my sky cutting (cept 1 more side piece). Many hours of cutting and measuring :o Grass next, then trees emoticon
