A novel way to display my Sylvanians

I saw this at Tiger today and I just had to get it. It's the perfect addition to display some of my favourite figures.

This is what's called a Setzkasten in Germany. There doesn't seem to be a good translation, but in the shop it was called a drawer.

Absolutely love it. The colours are perfect. (It's from the same shop where I bought the paper for the dress shop door.)

Translation for "setzkasten", is treasure chest. Hope that helps. Did it come with the paper? It's adorable!

It's pretty! Is it made of real wood and is there a glass or something in the front? How much did it cost?

Thank you all for the nice comments. emoticon

Helgabelt, that is excellent to know, thank you! I've been looking everywhere, even the German-English forum didn't come up with a good translation...

Suvenkorento, it was only £10 (I say only, that is not cheap either). It's wood and the finish is ok, though if you look too closely you can see it's not the most expensive thing. There is no glass in the front (Setzkaesten, or treasure chests are usually open) but there is a transparent divide at the back, presumably holding the paper in place. You can take the back off and swap the paper for something different. But I like it as is for the time being. emoticon

I love the backdrop paper!

It is very interesting to me that Whiskers father and brother made it up there and not mom and sis AND the jp hanster mom and sis, but not dad and bro. Care to explain, or is it just random? Such things always tickles my curiosity.

Eaton, it's only because I just had to the hamster mum and daughter because I love their clothes. And because I wanted to have a bit of variety I decided to have dad and brother in the opposite space. And there aren't really any dad and brother where I like the clothes as much, so I chose figures from one of the families I like best. emoticon

That makes sense, and thx for clarifying. Those hamsters' clothes are indeed fabulous!

Post a pic again if the mood changes and something else becomes favorites!
