Highfields Farm

I was deliberating whether this should go into the review or photo section, and decided that since it's quite image heavy it's best off here.

This has been my favourite house for a long time - but mostly for its exterior looks. I always feared that it was too deep and dark to properly set up sets in it, especially on the ground floor, and I found this to be true.

Nevertheless, I like the end result a lot. The idea I had was to make this look like a typical house for a farmer who works really hard but struggles to make ends meet, which I think is true for small farmers all over the world.

Hence the furniture is somewhat mismatched, there aren't many carpets and the parents save on themselves to give the kids as much as possible. Nevertheless it's a cosy home, with inherited old furniture, a fireplace etc.

I don't own that much kitchen and bathroom furniture, so you will recognise a lot of that from other photos. For the rest of the rooms I have tried to use things I don't have on display anywhere else.

And now finally, for the pictures.

This is the Bramble hedgehog's home. As you can see, everyone is busy outside.

The house is not very big for this pretty large family, but they manage to squeeze in.

Granny's old sideboard is still in the house, even though it's unwieldy and not very practical.

The living room is the most comfortable room in the house, but even here work is never far away for mum.

The parents have a rather Spartan bedroom. The furniture suite was a second hand present from the neighbours, but they are very proud of the antique wash table.

There are more pictures on ]my website, including the kids' rooms and bathroom.

Thank you for looking! emoticon

I really like your setup! The house is really pretty from outside, but I just don't like the inside all that much. It really is very dark and dreary, isn't it! emoticon

I think the Hedgehogs will live a very comfortable life in this home.

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, guys! emoticon It was fun to set up, but due to the colours and it being so deep the photographing was quite hard.

Eaton, I am crossing my fingers that you'll one day get it, too. emoticon

We welcome lots of pictures at the Review Board too! There've been a few past reviews with tons of pictures there, so don't worry about putting something with lots of pics there next time.

I had originally thought of moving this post to the Review Board, but I'm a little unsure as it seems to be half a review, and half a story. I guess it fits in both boards. emoticon

Yes, duckpuddle, that were my thoughts too. It was only really part review. Difficult decision. emoticon

Great job on the furniture setting! I think it is indeed dark inside but you managed to make it look very good in pictures anyway.

Your background story is very touching emoticon I hope the hedgehogs have a loving family life despite their poor earnings.

I have always wanted this building because I love the exterior too but now that I have seen how difficult it would be to "play" inside, I will think again. It's still super nice on the outside though!
