Re: Watch Out! Questionable Ebay Sellers!

I agree with Christina. Even I have never bought anything from you Sarah. I can vouch for you, having traded with you before.

I do sympathise with you. Recently, Ebay has gotten really rampant with many errant buyers.

One story a seller shared with me, was how this buyer blackmailed her a while back. The buyer bought a MIB JP porcelain dinner service set off her.

When it came, the buyer claimed the knife was missing and threatened her with a negative feedback, unless a full refund was given.
Eventually, the refund was issued and she got to keep the item! One thing the seller did mentioned to me, that was the buyer was from Singapore as well.

On a personal note, I feel; its really disgusting. It really gives us collectors a bad name. And particularly, I am even more ashamed this came from a fellow Singaporean or at least someone in Singapore

Ugh, how horrid! Sarah, you are an amazing seller! I hate that buyers can get away with so much. I currently have someone who wants to bid on things but only if I tell her exactly how much combined postage will be beforehand and insinuating I will cheat her. I spent more time on her than any of the people who actually bought from me recently!

Well Sarah I can say with my hand on my heart that you are one of the best sellers I have dealt with on Ebay and don't let this pain in the backside get you down.

Thanks for your support everyone!

Unfortunately eBay will not take the matter any further as it falls out of their extortion guidelines.

Do you think I ought to put in my auction descriptions that I do not cancel 'best offers' once accepted? I've just had someone else buy something and now wants to cancel.

Sigh!

It's funny you should mention cancellations. I've had so many this year. People who bid and then ask to cancel.

I now have many more blocked bidders than I ever have had. And worse, I know some of them to be active members on this board which makes me sad.

As many of you know, I've been trying to downsize my collection but on Ebay I've had so many unpaid items, time wasters, people sending massively knocked down offers, asking for items to be relisted several times (then still not bidding) or complaining about not wanting to pay postage on top etc. It's beginning to put me off selling anything either through figure shoppe or Ebay. I am going to have to downsize somehow to raise money for doing my Educational Psychology training.

I think maybe I need to toughen up and actually set automated UPI up so it just sends them to non paying bidders. I'm not even talking people waiting a week to pay, I'm talking weeks without any contact or prior arrangement for later payment. I understand people want to combine postage but people don't seem to message to say that anymore, I'm having to guess. Also I'd just like to point out I'm really not directing this at anybody in particular but I'm having some truly horrible experiences on Ebay at the moment.

You should absolutely put that into the description! People can be so rude! They'd never go up to the cashier, have them scan everything and then just walk off.

I am sure you must be able to report buyers who refuse to pay, no? Including that latest one? I once reported someone who told me a sob story about her Paypal account being hacked. Not my problem, I am happy to wait until the buyer gets paid or gets the problem sorted, but bought is bought!

Gah, I feel you!

Most of the members here have been superb and excellent in communicating with me.

I am an understanding person, so if there happened to be a genuine reason why a transaction couldn't go through that wouldn't be an issue at all.

But 'sorry I bought this elsewhere as I didn't think you were going to accept my offer' doesn't wash! Sellers have 48 hours to consider an offer, and the buyer could have retracted it during that time.

eBay, eh?

Exactly Mel! I might have to put a friendly reminder in the description about best offers, as I don't think people really understand how they work.

This particular buyer has been reported, and the UPI clears this evening so I'll get my final value fees back at least :-)

Re: Watch Out! Questionable Ebay Sellers!

I just don't see where else I can sell my figures to a large audience.

I don't get the same take up on a figure shoppe like Wendy used to and they are massively time consuming but because potentially I've got 5 years worth of training to fund I don't dare reduce my prices to 99p. I've done it with some JP items recently and they didn't get bid up very high at all emoticon

So I'm a bit stuck. For now, I've just put the figures back in my collection. If and when I know I have got a place I will then have to try Ebay again.

It's tough *hug*.

I'm at the stage where if something doesn't sell within a certain period of time, I'm okay at listing it at 99p. I'm valuing the space it consumes and the time it takes to sell the things more than the value of the item itself, as I'm sure my poor family are fed up of Sylvanians taking over the house! emoticon

I think on eBay a lot of people are buying for their children, so they won't buy a considered purchase like your rare figures, generally. Not to say there aren't collectors out there, but we're all feeling the pinch, especially with Christmas around the corner.

Absolutely sell for the price you'd like hun. Maybe you could contact Wendy and ask if you could sell your items on her website for a small fee?
